The North American Governing Committee recently met and made some important decisions in support of two major actions: a fourth Call for Proposals and a third Call for Donations (see below). Once again, I will be travelling to Burundi at my own expense. I will be in Burundi from January 1, 2014 to February 9, 2014, managing business for the Haley McCready Outreach and Development Fund and teaching at Hope Africa University.
Fourth Call for Proposals
The North American Governing Committee recently approved the fourth Call for Proposals to the Student Grants Program of the Haley McCready Outreach and Development Fund. With the approval of the new Rector, Bishop Gerald Bates, Bishop Onésphore Nzigo posted the Announcement of the Call for Proposals at the main campus of Hope Africa University (see Announcement).
Any student or graduate of Hope Africa University is eligible to submit a proposal for a development project of their own design. As usual, the African Governing Committee will carefully review all of the proposals and, depending on the quality of the proposals, select and recommend three or four proposed development projects for funding.
Third Call for Donations
To ensure that the Haley McCready Outreach and Development Fund is able to continue to support Hope Africa University students and graduates to implement capacity building, sustainable development projects, we are posting this third Call for Donations. Our experience with funding the first 12 development projects demonstrates that a great deal can be done to provide very practical development experience and benefits for students and graduates and the needy people they serve. A lot can be done to improve lives through development projects. A $1,500.00 development grant goes a long way in Burundi; it is a real investment in the lives and futures of real people.
This Call for Donations is focused on potential donors in the United States of America. Our previous donations have almost exclusively come from Canadian contributors. Unfortunately for now, we are not able to receive Canadian donations and provide a charitable tax receipt. Accordingly, it is critical that this time we receive donations from contributors in the United States.
For informational purposes and to support this Call for Donations, we have developed a brochure on the Haley McCready Outreach and Development Fund. Some prospective donors may be approached and given a brochure. If you would like to see the brochure, please click here to download the PDF.
Following Thanksgiving, a time to give thanks for our blessings, heading toward Christmas, a time to give to others, and nearing the end of the tax year, it is a timely opportunity to make a donation. If you are willing and able, please consider making a donation to the Student Grants Program of the Haley McCready Outreach and Development Fund.
With a donation of $1,500.00, you can sponsor a full development project. For $500.00 you can sponsor a “share” of a development project and with any gift, large or small, you will be a very important contributor to improving the lives of students and graduates of Hope Africa University and needy people in Burundian communities. Your U.S. donation is tax deductible and every dollar you give will be spent entirely on supporting development projects rather than administration.
If you are a resident of the United States, if you are able and if you are going to make a financial contribution, please use this link to download a printable donation form.
