With a heavy heart, I want to let you know that Bishop Elie Buconyori died last weekend; that is, Easter weekend. His funeral will be held tomorrow; Friday morning, April 5, 2013 at the Ngagara Free Methodist Church.
Elie Buconyori, Ph.D., was the Rector of Hope Africa University and the Bishop of the Free Methodist Church in Burundi. It was Bishop Buconyori who made the original suggestion of establishing a fund to support projects proposed and implemented by students and graduates of Hope Africa University. Bishop/Rector Buconyori contributed to the development of the Haley McCready Outreach and Development Fund and he served as a Member of the African Governing Committee.
Bishop Buconyori was a visionary and inspirational leader of the Church and the University. He was a friend and supporter of many people, including John McCready. He will be deeply missed but his work will most certainly continue.
